HOmatic pinch valve
HOmatic pinch valves are pressurecontrolled shut-off devices for applications in industrial automation. By means of changes to the control pressure, e. g. using a proportional pressure controller, they can also be used as measuring or regulating valves. HOmatic pinch valves are designed in accordance with the latest knowledge and comply with the provisions of the pressure equipment directive 97/23/EC (TÜV certifi cate). Their sturdy and simple design, with few components, guarantees high operational reliability and a long service life. They are designed as pipe pinch valves. They consist of a housing with an integrated control space and a coaxially installed cylindrical sleeve. Because this type of pinch valve does not require bulky control or drive constructions, their compact design means that they can be used in many cases even in the most inaccessible spaces.
Method of operation
The highly elastic sleeve anchored in the valve housing is surrounded by the socalled control space. If compressed air is applied to this space, the initially round sleeve distorts , becomes oval and then lies fl at in a preset position . The pinch valve is now closed, as long as the control pressure is maintained. If the control space is vented, the sleeve opens by means of its own reset force and returns to the round, full cross-section with the help of the medium pressure. With a control pressure approx. 2.5 bar higher than the pressure of the fl uid, the HOmatic pinch valve seals gaseous, liquid, pasty or powdery fl uids. The highly elastic sleeve surrounds any solids. A gas-tight seal cannot be guaranteed if the fl ow medium consists mainly of coarse particles.
